BEFORE YOU SIGN

How to compare drone-cleaning vendors responsibly

A convincing demo video is not a substitute for project-specific compliance, insurance or cleaning expertise. Ask each prospective provider about the aircraft, payload, spray method and site control plan that will actually be used on your building.

  • Operating qualifications: Who is the operating entity and pilot? What permits or authorizations apply at this site?
  • Insurance: What policies and limits cover aircraft operations, cleaning activity, damage and additional-insured requirements?
  • Surface care: What chemicals, water quality, pressures and methods are approved for the materials?
  • Site controls: Wind, pedestrians, traffic, neighboring property, wash-water management and emergency procedures.
  • Results: What inspection method, touch-up policy and exclusions will be written into the contract?

RFP / DUE DILIGENCE CHECKLIST

Documents worth requesting

  • Named project lead and responsible operating company
  • Applicable pilot credentials and aircraft authorizations
  • Relevant insurance and endorsements
  • Method statement, site risk review and weather criteria
  • Surface and product compatibility confirmation
  • Service acceptance criteria and completion photographs
  • Written schedule, scope and change-order process

Some drone dispensing operations can require additional regulatory review. Requirements depend on the operation and substances involved; confirm the applicable rules with the operator and regulator rather than relying on a blanket certification claim.

BEYOND A DEMONSTRATION

Three questions that reveal a serious contractor

These questions help buyers distinguish marketing claims from a real, deliverable service plan.

Can you explain the exact method?

The answer should cover surface suitability, spray system, cleaning products, water source, and finish verification.

Who is accountable on site?

Identify the operator, contract holder, safety lead and who handles damage or schedule exceptions.

What has been verified already?

Separate verified operating coverage from future network plans, concept imagery and sample demonstrations.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What competent planning looks like

Does FAA Part 107 alone authorize every type of cleaning?

No. The aircraft, substance being dispensed, location and mission can trigger additional rules or approvals. Ask the operator to confirm applicable requirements for the exact mission.

Is a drone always better than traditional access?

No. Narrow courtyards, wind, sensitive finishes or complex balconies can make conventional methods a better fit.

Can a concept photo establish a company's work history?

No. Verify project references, site photographs, operating entity and client permission independently. AI concept imagery should never be presented as a completed job.
